چکیده

Intermodulation distortion (IMD) suppression is a critical issue in modern military and commercial RF/microwave systems. Pressed by the demands imposed by distortion-sensitive digital modulation formats, modern systems routinely specify linearity requirements that are impossible to attain using conventional approaches. To meet these new challenges, Marki Microwave has introduced the Two-Tone-Terminator (T3) mixer family. The T3 mixer is the most sophisticated mixer circuit on the market today and offers unparalleled performance when compared to all other mixer technologies. This Primer describes the key operating principles of the T3 mixer and compares the performance against traditional double balanced mixers.

Consider Overall Cascaded Performance When Comparing Integrated RF Frequency Mixers to Passive Mixer Solutions - AN2371

Passive mixers have insertion loss that requires compensation in either the RF or IF gain stages to establish the overall desired receiver noise figure performance. For these passive mixers, the user must not only consider the third-order input intercept points (IIP3), but should also consider the output third-order intercept point (OIP3) when comparing the performance to integrated mixers. Pas...

Low noise, high linearity double-balanced active mixers using lossless feedback

performance while requiring a considerably less LO power than is required of Class III diode ring mixers having comparable performance [6]. However, the topology has provided little improvement in the NF of earlier active mixer topologies. In the lossless feedback active mixer, an input IF (or RF) signal having amplitude A and frequency ω S is applied differentially to the input terminals of a ...

The MICROMIXER: A Highly Linear Variant of the Gilbert Mixer Using a Bisymmetric Class-AB Input Stage

This paper outlines the basic theory of a development of the Gilbert mixer. The bipolar junction transistor (BJT) differential pair widely used as the RF input stage is replaced by a bisymmetric Class-AB topology based on translinear principles. It does not have inherent gain compression, affording a greatly extended signal capacity. The linearity of variants of the basic form is excellent, pro...

Broadband Fixed-Tuned Subharmonic Receivers to 640 GHz

This paper will describe the design and testing of solid-state subharmonically-pumped mixers from 380 GHz to 640 GHz. The main goal has been to develop robust, compact, solid-state room-temperature receivers with state-of-the-art sensitivity and broad IF bandwidths for applications such as airborne and space-based microwave sounding. Testing of a 380 GHz integrated mixer has yielded state-of-th...

High linearity, low power RF mixer design in 65ᅡᅠnm CMOS technology

A design of RF down-conversion Gilbert-Cell, with 65 nm CMOS technology, at a supply voltage of 1.8 V, with a new degenerating structure to improve linearity. This architecture opens the way to more integrated CMOS RF circuits and to achieve a good characteristics in terms of evaluating parameters of RF mixers with a very low power consumption (2.17 mW). At 1.9 GHz RF frequency; obtained result...
